Celebrating the life of
Michael James Bryant
November 28, 1954 - April 15, 2024
Michael James Bryant, affectionately known as “Michael T” to family and friends, passed away peacefully at Emory University Hospital on April 15, 2024.
Born in Tucson, AZ, Mike experienced a nomadic childhood due to his father's military service, a source of pride for him, especially his father's Air Force service in WWII. This upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for travel and diverse experiences.
Mike’s journey brought him to Savannah, GA, where fate intervened on his first date with Linda, his beloved wife. From Hilton Head to Savannah, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Mike had an articulate, sharp mind. He worked as a registered nurse before excelling at the Erlanger School of Nurse Anesthesia (University of Tennessee - Chattanooga). He provided over four decades of excellent care at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC, and most recently at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA. He made many friends along the way and was a well-respected colleague in his profession who will be dearly missed.
Beyond his professional achievements, Michael was a masterful storyteller with a razor-sharp wit. His humor and candid nature endeared him to many. One of his dear friends teasingly asked, “So, Mike, have you met the Pope as well? ” His response was, “I haven't tried yet.”
As an avid golfer, there was no limit to Mike’s knowledge of and respect for the game and all that it represented–honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship. He shared this passion with Linda, creating memories of a lifetime. Saturdays always included a cold beverage, a cigar, jazz music on the speaker, and, most importantly, time spent together–something they both treasured. He also looked forward to and enjoyed playing with a wonderful group of friends at The Club at Savannah Harbor.
His beloved UNC Tar Heels and Carolina Panthers have lost a truly great fan.
Mike embraced life with enthusiasm, eagerly anticipating the rewards of retirement after dedicating decades to hard work. His departure feels untimely to those of us who will dearly miss him each day, yet we find solace in knowing that he rests in a better place with our Lord and Savior. Those who had the privilege of knowing Mike will carry fond memories of him, cherishing the man he was and the exemplary roles he fulfilled as a devoted husband, loving father, supportive brother, cherished son, respected colleague, and loyal friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Col. Charles S. Bryant, USAF, and his mother, Shirley B. Trezevant. Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his loving wife, Linda; former wife and mother of his daughters, Melinda W. Bryant of Asheville, NC; daughters Kristin Bryant of Durham, NC, Amberle Bryant (Cameron) of Cumming, GA, and stepdaughter Hillary Roberts Wilcox (Austen) of Salt Lake City, UT; three grandchildren–Skylah (Amberle), Charles (Amberle), and Blair (Hillary); sisters Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Bryant and Kathleen ‘Katy’ James (Donald) both of Monroe, NC ; his father-in-law Colonel Carroll Lacroix, USMC, Retired, Corpus Christi, TX; Lisa and Mike Stanford, Thornton, CO; Paul Hughes, Savannah, GA; Charlie and Lois Hughes, Levittown, PA; Beth Hughes, Beaufort, SC; and his treasured Australian labradoodles Skipper and Nugget.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at The Club at Savannah Harbor, honoring his passion for golf and the joy he brought to those around him. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the 200 Club of Savannah, Knot Lucky, and Tunnels to Towers are appreciated.

Words cannot express the deep sadness in knowing the Michael T has left this world. There is happiness however in knowing the Mike is now with his Heavenly Father.
